What a night! Thanks to everyone who came down and apologies to those who didn’t get in. Some technical difficulties pushed back kick off by about 40 minutes but we eventually got under way with The Don laying down smash after smash of reggae vibes. Rain on my brain indeed.
Gmos jumped on the decks and proceeded to get an already packed house grooving with Tullio de Piscopo’s Stop Bajon. Things only got better from there and it was quite a sight to see our Gmos getting egged on by Rahaan. Every record he selected met with the big man’s approval and he’s got the bruises on his arm to prove it!
Finally the man of the hour stepped up and nailed his colours to the mast with the intro to Kool & The Gang’s Open Sesame. Things would never be quite the same in Space 54 again! What followed was over 2 hours of unadulterated Chi-town boogie banging madness. If you don’t believe me, check out the mixes below… there’s even a few seconds of crowd noise towards the end that somehow managed to transcend phono to jack recording technology via some kind of freeky cosmosis.
And finally our headliner for A Day On The Farm was announced as none other than Luke Unabomber. See above for more details…

You had a great night with all that music indeed!! I’d love to know the name of the track at minute 5:10 in Dj Rahaan’s set. Is it possible?
hiya, that track is ‘Just a touch of love’ by Slave, an incredible funk band from Ohio with Steve Arrington on vocals. The version that Rahaan played is a bit different from the original though, it sounds like a re-edit and i have a feeling Rahaan is the one who edited it.
check the original here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMz_5XSE-9M
i can only identify about one third of the tunes he played, desperately need to find out the rest!
peace
